1990s
David Liu, Carley Roney, Rob Fassino, and Michael Wolfson founded The Knot Inc. initially launching the brand as a portal on AOL before officially bringing TheKnot.com online.

December 2000
The Knot Weddings Magazine launched as a quarterly bridal publication sold on newsstands.

January 2004
The television series Real Weddings from The Knot debuted on the Oxygen Network spanning two seasons.

September 2006
The Knot Inc. acquired WeddingChannel.com, consolidating its bridal media offerings.

February 2008
TheBump.com was introduced to serve expectant and new parents.

June 2011
The Knot Inc. officially rebranded to XO Group Inc., to reflect its expansion beyond weddings into broader lifestyle categories, including home and baby.

October 2015
XO Group acquired GigMasters, an online marketplace for event vendors, and partners with Jetaport for discounted hotel room blocks.

September 2018
XO Group merged with WeddingWire, becoming a privately held company and rebranding as The Knot Worldwide (TKWW).

February 2020
TKWW acquired UK-based wedding brand Hitched and launched a $10 million COVID-19 vendor assistance program.

August 2020
TKWW introduced The Knot Registry Store and The Knot Invitations, including partnerships with Vera Wang, JoJo Fletcher, Jordan Rodgers, and Jenna Dewan.

January 2021
The Bump and the National Medical Association partnered to launch The Black Maternal Health Hub, designed to reduce Black maternal mortality rates.

January 2021
Fellowship for Change launched to support underserved wedding professionals in their first five years of business through education, mentorship, and funding.

October 2024
The Knot Worldwide launched The Knot Budget Advisor, a digital-first tool designed to provide couples with a wedding budget estimate based on their location and priorities.

January 2025
Raina Moskowitz joined as Chief Executive Officer of The Knot Worldwide.

February 2026
The Knot Worldwide launched the wedding industry’s first app within ChatGPT and became one of the first brands to participate in OpenAI’s advertising pilot.

The Knot WorldWide launched a new WeddingPro Grant Program, awarding up to $500,000 in financial grants, advertising support, and mentorship.
